What if you were to let go of the idea of controlling outcomes? What if you were to let go of the need to decide how things will unfold? What if you simply took the steps that feel inspired, that feel growth oriented, and not worry about what comes next?
It’s easy, in our modern lives with all of the technology at our fingertips, to live in the illusion that we can control the unfolding of life. Truth is, we can only make decisions – decisions that yes, may make us feel like we’re controlling things, but we’re not.
All it takes is remembering that we can’t control when it rains and when it doesn’t to step back into the space of recognizing there is something SO much bigger at play. This simple recognition is the beginning of what it means to surrender. To release your grip, open up your arms, and let the Universe fill them with the miracle of possibility beyond your mind’s controlling reach.
I invite you to reflect on your own relationship with surrender this month, and use the tools and resources below to begin to open yourself up to more Universal flow in your life and see what happens….

When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron
What to say about this book? Pema Chodron’s words soothe our minds back into the soft remembering of what it truly is to surrender. A favorite passage below:
“Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.”
Video We Love
We’re doing something a little different – this month, I decided to share my personal experiences on surrender in a video for you!
Journal Prompts of the Month:
Grab your journal, a pen, and a cup of tea! Get cozy and reflect on the following:
What does surrender mean to me?
What are my fears around surrender?
What have I surrendered recently?
Choose one situation in your life – use the questions below to reflect:
What does controlling the outcome give me?
What could releasing the outcome give me?
For Your Sacred Space
When moving through times of surrender, you’re going to want to make journaling a regular practice to sort through thoughts, so grab a beautiful journal that will remind you of the importance of the work. Our favorite is this beautiful one from Gallery.
The butterfly gets a lot of press, but we’d like to take a second and consider the caterpillar. How much surrender must be involved for that little creature to totally dissolve and be re-born into something brand new?
The caterpillar reminds us of the necessity of our surrender in order for the Divine process of transformation to play out in our lives. This month as you find yourself in situations where you’d like to see change, try calling on that inner caterpillar, ready and willing to become whatever the Divine would have you be.
Fluorite supports us in huge emotional transformation. It’s a beautiful stone of support, that brings us peace through times of radical change.
The fluorite crystal helps us to use times of confusion and clouded awareness to find our way back to our most authentic and Divine path, and acts like a magnet to pull out all of the spiritual muck in the head and the heart so they can stand clean and clear, illuminated in their Divine light.
Fluorite works specifically with the third eye chakra, so it is a wonderful stone to use in your meditations, as well as to rest on your forehead when taking a little nap.
